The telethon event was comprised of various live performances. Song artists such as Beyonce, changed the lyrics to their songs to convey  the scope of the tragedy. Actors such as Robert Pattinson shared stories of survival, courage and tragedy relating to the earthquake.

In a speech at the Hope for Haiti Now event, Robert Pattinson quoted the following:

"Underneath a flattened university, Maxine Fallon waited. She was crouched in a fetal position and could barely move. In the darkness and during the hectic sounds of the day, through the pain, the hunger and thrist, she prayed that someone would find her. And on the sixth day her prayers were answered, she was found because of a text message from the rubble sent rescuers to her side. Unlike any other event in history, our world has been connected to this tragedy because of technology. Twitter updates, Facebook pages with pictures of the missing and text messages for help. This technology is working right now to connect us, too. At hopeforhaitinow.org, you can donate and you can instantly interact with people in Haiti and anywhere in the globe. Join with those watching and see what they're saying about something we all care deeply about — helping the Haitian people get back on their feet. Please go to hopeforhaitinow.org. Thank you."  Quote: Robert Pattinson

Surprisingly, the Hope For Haiti Now album is the biggest one-day album pre-order in iTunes history and is currently the #1 iTunes album in 18 countries.

More funds are their way to help the victims in Haiti. Simon Cowell has recorded a charity single scheduled for release very soon. The charity single 'Everybody hurts' (originally by REM) will feature Miley Cyrus; Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey and Jon Bon Jovi.

If you have not yet donated funds to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake, you can still make a big difference by donating what you can to charities such as Hope for Haiti Now and Save the Children.
