Gerard Butler will appear on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien on Thursday, July 16, 2009 11.30pm.

His guest appearance will help Conan O'Brien boost his TV ratings for NBC's The Tonight show.

According to the New York Post, there have been a significant fall in viewing figures since Conan O'Brien replaced Jay Leno's lead role on The Tonight Show.

A temporary decline in viewing figures is expected with most TV host transitions. Conan O'Brien will rely heavily on star guests such as Gerard Butler to help The Tonight Show maintain viewing figures and enable Conan to complete his transition as a lead host as quickly and smoothly as possible.

Gerard Butler has previously appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2007.
